My take on Obi’s hilt, my favorite saber design from the original trilogy. I loved how chunky and industrial it was compared to Anakin, Luke’s or Vader’s. To me, it definitely feels the most mechanical and weapon like and has an innate feeling of purpose and function. I wanted my version to feel like it had seen several decades wandering in the Dune Sea, battered by the sand, time and rust. I feel like Obi would have tried to keep it maintained as well as he could, but lack of supplies and the tools needed to keep it clean and shiny would take their toll over the years. I like to think he would have added the red fin lines as a homage to Maul, kind of like how fighter pilots notch the side of their planes in remembrance of the combatants they have taken down.

CONSTRUCTION/CUSTOMIZATION

All my hilts are designed with a steel threaded rod running down the middle for structural stability as well as working with the emitter/pommel(each have a sunken steel bolt) to combine the unit. The ends twist on, allowing the owner to customize the order of the components, their orientation and swap in new parts at any time down the road.(last pic in gallery shows swapped in parts)

WEIGHT = 12.3 oz

LENGTH = 11 .25 inches

WIDTH = 1.5 inches at grip 2.5 at the switch

FYI/CYA DISCLAIMER

The following is a fictional break down of the physical features of the hilt. These are the features I envisioned while I was designing it. Sadly the hilt will not actually produce a cutting blade and is made of resin, not metal.)

THE GOODS

Emitter - A mono piece design, an outer shell of tempered steel that holds a copper emitter with one of my most complex jet layouts. One central main port with 4 orbiting control ports, followed by a control ring and then 16 far outer edges control jets.

Switch Assembly - I had a ton of fun taking on this classic switch mechanism. I hosts 6 translucent blue switch bubbles, the side pressure clamp, dual control knobs and a rear access door.

Couplers - The upper coupler is a dual composite brass/copper thin neck construction, pairing the emitter to the grip assembly. 16 fins surround the outer radius of the lower coupler, adding both traction as well as cooling functions to aid with energy dispersion.

Main Grip- Probably the most recognizable aspect of this hilt, the classic “frag” grip patter with a few new twists, mounting bolts and a decorative hub graces the top.

Pommel - The classic bathroom sink knob ruggedized with extra traction, bolts and a central massive carbonized hex bolt in the bottom.

OPTIONS - This hilt is available in two forms.

Raw Resin Kit - fresh out of the print vat, will need a small amount of sanding(the beauty of resin printing vs pla, incredibly smooth surfaces right off the printer and super easy to sand. I will give it a once-over and remove any small support burns or uneven surfaces so you’re all ready to prime and paint.

Turn around time - Parts are printed per order and average print time per hilt is 12 to 16 hours. Should ship within 7-10 days of order.

OR!

Premiere Display - This piece will be given my utmost level of attention and detail, sanded, primed and painted. It will come with a certificate of authenticity card which will include the Soupcan13 badge of quality as well as my signature and will include its run number(I plan on doing a total of 200 in this run). My painting process includes, all parts deburred and sanded, priming, airbrushing the base coat, applying color coats, masking and applying secondary detail colors, detail painting, black wash/corrosion wash and finally 3 coats of high quality clear coat to protect from chips, scratches and prevent paint from wearing due to handling.

Turn around time - Parts are painted per order and average paint time per hilt is 6 to 8 hours. Should ship within 15-18 days of order.
