Watarimono - The Wanderer

Watarimono - The Wanderer

from $95.00

Wind through the trees, one step after another on a dirt road, walking from town to town and space port to space port…. This hilt is the trusted friend of the wandering vagabond, finding themselves where ever fate steers them. I’ve always loved how George Lucas based so much of the stand out details of Star Wars on samurai culture. I wanted this saber to embody a sturdy dependable feel of a loyal weapon while also being wrapped in tidbits of ancient Japan. I pulled detail points from samurai armor and sword design. A touch of the yesterday and ancient mixed with a splash of tomorrow.

CONSTRUCTION/CUSTOMIZATION

All my hilts are designed with a steel threaded rod running down the middle for structural stability as well as working with the emitter/pommel(each have a sunken steel bolt) to combine the unit. The ends twist on, allowing the owner to customize the order of the components, their orientation and swap in new parts at any time down the road.(last pic in gallery shows swapped in parts)

WEIGHT = 11 oz

LENGTH = 11 inches

WIDTH = 1.25 inches at grip 2.37 at the cross guard

FYI/CYA DISCLAIMER

The following is a fictional break down of the physical features of the hilt. These are the features I envisioned while I was designing it. Sadly the hilt will not actually produce a cutting blade and is made of resin, not metal.)

THE GOODS

Emitter/Shield- An angled outer collar surrounding a unique tri ported slender emitter. This arrangement produces a thin and high heat cutting edge with a very precise energy form.

Switch Assembly - Classic clean lines and a surrounding of thin armor plates around the entire assembly. 8 thin slits across the back allow for heat venting and and orderly set of buttons are housed in the control box.

Couplers- Made from old school brass. Possibly repurposed from ancient temple machinery, merging spirituality with technology.

Main Grip- Ultra light but strong metal composite combined with panels that adapt to the users hand. Bound together with hex bolts and titanium caps.

Pommel - Etched with the silhouette of a long forgotten blossom. Dual mounting bolts also double as a recharging port.

OPTIONS - This hilt is available in two forms.

Raw Resin Kit - fresh out of the print vat, will need a small amount of sanding(the beauty of resin printing vs pla, incredibly smooth surfaces right off the printer and super easy to sand. I will give it a once-over and remove any small support burns or uneven surfaces so you’re all ready to prime and paint.

Turn around time - Parts are printed per order and average print time per hilt is 12 to 16 hours. Should ship within 7-10 days of order.

OR!

Premiere Display - This piece will be given my utmost level of attention and detail, sanded, primed and painted. It will come with a certificate of authenticity card which will include the Soupcan13 badge of quality as well as my signature and will include its run number(I plan on doing a total of 200 in this run). My painting process includes, all parts deburred and sanded, priming, airbrushing the base coat, applying color coats, masking and applying secondary detail colors, detail painting, black wash/corrosion wash and finally 3 coats of high quality clear coat to protect from chips, scratches and prevent paint from wearing due to handling.

Turn around time - Parts are painted per order and average paint time per hilt is 6 to 8 hours. Should ship within 15-18 days of order.
