Untangled Inner Light
Untangled Inner Light
Following hot on the heels of the Lion King mashup I did awhile back, this time with some Tangled flavor mixed in. Really fun hilt to design, Tangled has so many cool themes in the movie and it was a trip to weave them into the hilt. Rapunzel’s braid, the magic blossom and the golden sun of the king were all slowly integrated in as it evolved. I wanted to give it a slightly medieval knight feel of royalty that would feel at home in the hand of an adventuring princess. Not as crushingly damaging as a pan but a solid secondary choice for battle, that even mother would approve of.
CONSTRUCTION/CUSTOMIZATION
All my hilts are designed with a steel threaded rod running down the middle for structural stability, this hilt is slightly different from my reconfigure able hilts as it is a solid hit once assembled.
WEIGHT = 12 oz
LENGTH = 12 inches
WIDTH = 2 inches on the widest angle of the grip and 3.25 at the guard
FYI/CYA DISCLAIMER
The following is a fictional break down of the physical features of the hilt. These are the features I envisioned while I was designing it. Sadly the hilt will not actually produce a cutting blade and is made of resin, not metal.)
THE GOODS
Emitter -A main central port is flanked by an upper and lower secondary smaller ports that aid in blade generation. I like to imagine this creates a broad strong blade.
Switch Assembly - This hilt has a fairly complex control layout. Main ignition is below the guard, then an intensity slider right below that. A lower switch functions as a safety.
Couplers - a thin sub hilt coupler also functions as a tactile aid to feel where your hands are placed as well as gives additional traction.
Main Grip- the curve and ergos of this hilt make it incredibly comfortable in hand. Three molded cut outs in lower hilt give extra control and there braids across the spine add traction for tricky situations. “At last I see the light” is etched on both sides of the grip on both sides in Aurebesh.
Pommel - Compact and straight to business. A covered charge port and the magic blossom are incorporated into it.
OPTIONS - This hilt is available in two forms.
Raw Resin Kit - fresh out of the print vat, will need a small amount of sanding(the beauty of resin printing vs pla, incredibly smooth surfaces right off the printer and super easy to sand. I will give it a once-over and remove any small support burns or uneven surfaces so you’re all ready to prime and paint.
Turn around time - Parts are printed per order and average print time per hilt is 12 to 16 hours. Should ship within 7-10 days of order.
OR!
Premiere Display - This piece will be given my utmost level of attention and detail, sanded, primed and painted. It will come with a certificate of authenticity card which will include the Soupcan13 badge of quality as well as my signature and will include its run number(I plan on doing a total of 200 in this run). My painting process includes, all parts deburred and sanded, priming, airbrushing the base coat, applying color coats, masking and applying secondary detail colors, detail painting, black wash/corrosion wash and finally 3 coats of high quality clear coat to protect from chips, scratches and prevent paint from wearing due to handling.
