One of my favorite transformers as a kid was Soumdwave. Sure he turned into a tape deck, which seemed kind of underpowered but his upper torso was also like a tree house of terror for a giant robotic panther, some angry little guys with hammer for hands, a psychotic hawk and a bunch of other tiny warriors.(speaking of…they are available here! Plus he always rhymed when he talked which was admirable.
