Death’s Hard Kiss
Death’s Hard Kiss
An assassin’s most trusted friend, this hilt is designed robust and compact but packs a thicker than normal handle, concealing massive primary batteries, capable of long drawn out duals against multiple opponents without need for recharging over vast stretches of time. It’s small stature allows for easy concealment under flowing robes. I envisioned this saber as both a brawler’s weapon as well as a killer for hire.
CONSTRUCTION/CUSTOMIZATION
All my hilts are designed with a steel threaded rod running down the middle for structural stability as well as working with the emitter/pommel(each have a sunken steel bolt) to combine the unit. The ends twist on, allowing the owner to customize the order of the components, their orientation and swap in new parts at any time down the road.
WEIGHT = 14.5 oz
LENGTH = 11.125 inches
WIDTH = 1.6 inches at grip 2.2 widest part of switch
FYI/CYA DISCLAIMER
The following is a fictional break down of the physical features of the hilt. These are the features I envisioned while I was designing it. Sadly the hilt will not actually produce a cutting blade and is made of resin, not metal.)
THE GOODS
Emitter/Shield-A two part assembly, the outer shield features an angle cut with side porting to allow more efficient energy disputation as well as machined cooling fins to help with heat build up. The integral inner blade emitter is brass to help with both heat and corrosion and sports a slotted main port flanked by 8 assisting ports to produce an even blade shape.
Switch Assembly - An outer radius of cooling blades also add grip texture, an ornamental brass coupling collar adorns the top of the assembly. The switch track itself is machined from brass and features fluted switch tracks.
Couplers- classic pillar style polished titanium. Simple, straight to the point and elegant. The add a nimble light form feature to the hilt while assisting with weight reduction due to their concave nature.
Main Grip- Machined copper with titanium joint screws. The added width conceals larger than standard batteries and the copper has been etched to aid with both grip and blade maneuverability.
Pommel - Brass nested inside a titanium collar, two joining hex head screws attach a stability plate to the bottom of the pommel. The finned edges aid in both hilt retention as well as maneuvering, giving the combatant a strong point of contact if needed, as well as being a formidable blunt impact area.
OPTIONS - This hilt is available in two forms.
Raw Resin Kit - fresh out of the print vat, will need a small amount of sanding(the beauty of resin printing vs pla, incredibly smooth surfaces right off the printer and super easy to sand. I will give it a once-over and remove any small support burns or uneven surfaces so you’re all ready to prime and paint.
Turn around time - Parts are printed per order and average print time per hilt is 12 to 16 hours. Should ship within 7-10 days of order.
OR!
Premiere Display - This piece will be given my utmost level of attention and detail, sanded, primed and painted. It will come with a certificate of authenticity card which will include the Soupcan13 badge of quality as well as my signature and will include its run number(I plan on doing a total of 200 in this run). My painting process includes, all parts deburred and sanded, priming, airbrushing the base coat, applying color coats, masking and applying secondary detail colors, detail painting, black wash/corrosion wash and finally 3 coats of high quality clear coat to protect from chips, scratches and prevent paint from wearing due to handling.
Turn around time - Parts are painted per order and average paint time per hilt is 6 to 8 hours. Should ship within 15-18 days of order.
