Waaaay back around almost a year ago I had a customer reach out to me and ask if I could put together a bead/toggle/pendant shaped like a grenade.  He was currently in the military and wanted to use it on the end of a lanyard attached to a knife as a weight to make it easier to draw the blade.  I told him I would take a stab(hardy har har) at it and a few weeks later I had what looked like the horrible bastard child of a mayonnaise jar and a pineapple…..at the time my knowledge/skill level in both the 3d modeling techniques for jewelry making and training in 3d printing just wasn’t at the level it needed to be. 

With a heavy heart I let the guy know that it just wasn’t shaping up, refunded his deposit and stomped around like an angry 3 year old for awhile….stewing in my failure…..

Soooo several months later I was looking for something to do and I thought to myself…”hey…stupid grenade….I’m gonna beat you….its go time!” aaaaaaaaaaand low and behold it managed to shape up just fine.  This was a two stage happy dance for me, because

#1 I pulled off something I didn’t think I was capable of doing and

#2 I am going to send one of these off to the young man that requested it as a surprise. Hopefully that’ll will make the load he carries for the rest of us back home a lil lighter.
